Through engaging initiatives and projects, we strive to make the Midwest JLC stronger everyday. Being able to have a group of kids come together, and are extremely passionate about sharing their love for camp. By giving other children the opportunity of overnight summer camp is what makes this organization so significant. We aren’t the only JLC their are many spread out across the U.S. who raise awareness, and funds for SCOPE as well throughout the year to give back. Not only are you doing an amazing act of kindness by sharing your love for camp, but your also able to receive community service hours for your hard work within the JLC. As we continue to grow the JLC we strive to create more funds and awareness within SCOPE.
The SCOPE Midwest JLC was started in 2016 by Heather Knobel, a past camper from Lake of The Woods Camp. She lead the JLC through many different initiatives. One major initiative she led was a Sort and Packs to give SCOPE campers the materials they would need for the summer. Her brother Stephen Knobel who went to Greenwoods Camp took over after she left for college. Guiding the Midwest JLC with different initiatives that allowed the JLC to grow even more. 5 years later, Lake of the Woods and Greenwood campers still strive to make the Midwest JLC a strong organization. As a group each year we lead many initiatives to give more underprivileged children the opportunity of camp as we were fortunate enough to have been able to have that experience.
